Understanding Roaming and Coverage

Written by Olly Levine

CyberTel makes travel simple — all our plans include roaming so you can stay connected across the UK and the world. How your roaming works depends on which plan you have.

Standard Plans (Core, Student, Responder)

Your UK SIM works across the UK and two international zones:

Zone

Name

Coverage

Zone 1

Roam Free

EU/EEA — works just like home

Zone 2

World Class

USA, Canada, Australia & South Africa

💡 Your Spend Shield is active by default — if you travel outside Zones 1 & 2, your SIM will stop rather than charge you unexpectedly. Contact us if you need temporary access to additional zones.

Explorer Plan

Your UK SIM works across three zones:

Zone

Name

Coverage

Zone 1

Roam Free

EU/EEA — works just like home

Zone 2

World Class

USA, Canada, Australia & South Africa

Zone 3

World Wide

A huge range of destinations across every continent

💡 Your Spend Shield protects you in Zones 4, 5 & 6 — you won't be charged unless you choose to deactivate it.

Global Roaming Plans (Globetrotter, Aero, Forces, Sail, RailReach)

Your Global Roaming plan gives you two lines working together — your UK SIM on EE for calls, texts & data, and your Global eSIM giving you access to Vodafone and Three in the UK (with O2 coming soon), plus international networks across 207 destinations worldwide.

Zone

Coverage

Zone A

Europe — roam just like home

Zone B

Calls, texts & Global eSIM data included

Zone C

Global eSIM data + Spend Shield protected calls & texts

Zone D

Global eSIM data capped at 1GB/month + Spend Shield protected calls & texts

Zone E

Coming soon

Zone F

Not supported

💡 Your UK SIM handles calls and texts. Your Global eSIM handles data. Both work together automatically — you don't need to switch between them manually.

UK Coverage

In the UK, CyberTel gives you outstanding coverage:

  • 📶 EE — your main UK SIM, the UK's fastest 5G network

  • 📶 Vodafone & Three — available via your Global eSIM on Global Roaming plans (O2 coming soon)

  • 🏙️ 5G available in most towns and cities

  • 📞 WiFi Calling and 4G Calling included on compatible devices

Before You Travel

✅ Check which zones are included in your plan before you go
✅ Make sure Data Roaming is turned ON in your device settings
✅ Restart your phone after landing to connect to the local partner network
✅ If you're on a Global Roaming plan, make sure your Global eSIM is enabled before you travel

💡 On your phone go to Settings → Mobile Data → SIMs, set your Global eSIM as your data line abroad and keep your UK SIM active for calls and texts.

Troubleshooting Abroad

If you're unable to connect:

  • Turn Airplane Mode ON, wait 30 seconds, then turn it OFF

  • Restart your phone

  • Check that Data Roaming is turned on for your active SIM or eSIM

  • Manually select a local network if your phone doesn't auto-connect

Still not connecting? Contact our team — we can refresh your SIM or eSIM remotely.
